What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive aesthetic treatment that improves the look and health of your skin by increasing the production of collagen. The beauty specialists at Rejuv MedSpa use microneedling to improve:

How does microneedling work?

The microneedling tool used by the aesthetic team at Rejuv MedSpa contains thin, tiny needles. When applied to your skin, the needles create microtears in the surface of your skin, simulating an injury. Your skin then reacts by sending the healing properties in your body over to the “injury” which induces collagen production.

Collagen is the protein in your skin that provides strength, support, and elasticity. Production of the youth-enhancing protein decreases as you age, which results in less skin support and the sagging that leads to the development of lines and wrinkles.

What can I expect during microneedling?

To ease any discomfort before you begin your microneedling, your specialist at Rejuv MedSpa first applies a numbing agent to your skin. Then, when your skin is ready, the microneedling tool makes small pricks in your skin to stimulate collagen production.

Microneedling takes about 30 minutes, and there’s no downtime following your session. Your skin may be a bit red following microneedling, but this side effect should disappear within a few days. Be sure to use daily sunblock following microneedling to protect your skin.

How long does it take to see results from microneedling?

You should start to notice an improvement in the look of your skin within a few weeks after your microneedling session. To maintain your look, be sure to continue to use daily sunblock and cover up with a wide-brimmed hat and large sunglasses when you’re out in the sun for a long period of time.
